AVA has integrated the advantages of the aspirating smoke detection and conventional point-type smoke detector to enable the system not only to achieve very early warning fire detection provided by typical aspirating detection system but also to locate the fire source as a point-type smoke detector.
Compared with products with a large protection area, the AVA detectors, by design, are more limited to small areas or small space protection, so it can pinpoint more accurate fire locations in case of fire.
For example, the AVA CSD series (Cabinet Smoke Detector) is designed to protect a small, confined space such as an electrical cabinet. Even when used for room detection, the protection area is limited to 100m2, which is the same as a point type smoke detector.
When the AVA CSD system is in alarm mode, users can easily identify the fire location, solving the problem that conventional aspirating detection systems can only provide as a large-area warning but fails to pinpoint the exact location of the fire.

AVA FANFARE series, multi-zone detectors, have multiple independent high sensitivity smoke detection modules, each sampling pipe has an independent aspirator and high-sensitivity smoke detection module, so each pipe is an independent detection zone. FANFARE-2000 is a four-pipe, four-detector product that can locate four detection zones and FANFARE-4000 is an eight-pipe, eight-detector product that can locate eight detection zones.
For example, when the FANFARE-2000 is used to protect a data center, the four sampling pipes can be set to protect the air handling unit return air, below ceiling space, above ceiling void and under raised floor void respectively. When there is an alarm, the FANFARE-2000 can clearly identify the location where the pipe or smoke detector is protecting and its smoke condition.

Even with the QUARTAS single smoke detector—as well as the QUARTAS-2000s, a four-pipe model—the system can still perform a scanning process by sequentially controlling the four aspirators to turn on and off when an alarm is triggered. This allows it to identify which sampling pipe has detected abnormal smoke and accurately locate the fire source.
Although the QUARTAS-2000’s scanning method is not as fast or straightforward as the FANFARE series in identifying the location of abnormal smoke—and the scanning operation takes at least several tens of seconds to complete—it can still help personnel determine the fire’s location earlier in most cases.

The AVA products can identify the location of a fire more quickly, solving the problem of air-sampling smoke detection systems that can only detect fires over a large area and are not able to pinpoint the location of the fire. The sooner a fire is detected and dealt with (whether it's simply shutting down the power or the fire brigade arriving to extinguish the fire), the fire loss can be reduced dramatically. And pinpointing the location of a fire quickly is one of the key factors in buying more time to respond to a fire.
